On a most beautiful September afternoon, I decided to take our green pair across town and back. Along the way, we took an overpass that is some 75' in the air, crossed railroad tracks, clip clopped through 2 covered bridges, and dealt with tri-axle dump trucks, 18 wheel semi's, 2 harley's, a skate board and..... only a couple idiots caught up in the [slowing down is not an option] syndrome. We encountered a hundred or so vehicles. [Southern Vermont is not so country as it used to be]
Early on in their training, the girls were led through the covered bridges, but it's a whole bunch different when they are leading the way and those shod feet hit the boarded floor of the bridge.
We walked most of the way, with some trotting early in the ride, stopping a couple time for a breather, and a pic. The last 3 miles to home is all uphill and we had a couple tired horses when we got to the barn.
My student Pam, and my buddy Kelsey are on the wagon pulled by Sam & Allie, 3 yr old American Creams.
